Redlands bulky-item pickup or full-service junk removal?
Use city bulky pickup when a small, eligible load is already ready for the curb. Consider full-service removal when you need carrying, have a mixed or larger load, or want the entire cleanout handled in one visit.
The two options solve different problems. Redlands’ residential curbside bulky-item collection is a municipal program for a limited number of eligible, curb-ready items. A full-service junk-removal crew can carry approved items from inside the home, handle a mixed load, and load the truck after you approve the quote.
Start with four questions
- How many items are leaving?
- Can they be safely placed at the curb?
- Does the load include electronics, paint, chemicals, tires, or other excluded material?
- Do you need the work coordinated around a move, cleanout, or property deadline?
If the answers are “a few,” “yes,” “no,” and “no rush,” the city option may fit. If the load is inside, spread across rooms, mixed, or time-sensitive, full-service removal may save several rounds of lifting and scheduling.
What Redlands publishes about curbside collection
The City of Redlands bulky-item flyer says residential accounts may request up to three bulky pieces twice per year. It lists examples such as a couch, loveseat, reclining chair, dresser, kitchen chairs, and a mattress with box spring. It also says branches, carpet, and cardboard must be bundled to stated dimensions.
The same flyer excludes household hazardous waste, tires, liquids, paint, household chemicals, televisions, computers, and electronic appliances. It directs residents to call 909-798-7529 to schedule. Public programs can change, so check the current city information when you are ready to use it.

Do not force the wrong material into either option
California bans many hazardous products and electronic devices from ordinary trash. Paint, solvents, pesticides, batteries, propane cylinders, televisions, and computers need a verified disposal route. Redlands operates a local household hazardous-waste facility for accepted residential materials. Keep these items out of your ordinary pile until you confirm where they belong.
Use this five-minute load check
- Count the large pieces.
- Photograph the full load from two angles.
- Note which items are indoors, upstairs, or behind a gate.
- Pull out liquids, chemicals, batteries, and electronics.
- Write down your deadline and whether multiple visits would be a problem.
